Auditions!
Are you the next Blender? For auditions, please prepare a song that shows off your vocal abilities. We want to hear what you can do and how your sound could Blend with us! All prospective members are invited to an open rehearsal, usually held the weekend before auditions.
Who can audition for the Blend? ANYONE currently attending Wheaton College (in Massachusetts) can audition for the Blend! Males, females, those who are gender non-conforming, whoever! How often do you hold auditions for the Blend? We hold auditions at the beginning of every fall and spring semester. You won't be able to miss the flyers around campus! If you auditioned for the Blend before and didn’t make it, we encourage you to try out again. |

Do I sign up for an audition?
Nope! There will be fliers around campus that will let you know where the auditions will be held. There will be activity fairs that take place at the beginning of each semester. You’ll get a chance to learn about the different a cappella groups at Wheaton, hear them sing at Orientation showcases, and get a chance to ask us any questions about our group.
Do I need any singing experience?
While prior experience like singing in a choir or a cappella group is very valuable, it’s not required. In fact, you don’t even need to know how to read music!
What is the audition process?
When you arrive at your audition, you'll get to fill out a nifty form we've prepared and then sing your prepared short solo in front of the group. Pick something that you're comfortable with and best shows off your voice. Of course, you probably won’t want to sing an Italian aria because that’s just not the kind of singing we do. You get the idea. Make sure to warm up and be comfortable with your song before your audition so that we hear the best of your voice! It’s very relaxed, and the whole process only takes a few minutes. Callbacks are held later in the week. Don’t worry, it’s pretty painless.
How many new Blenders do you take each year/semester?
We have no quota to fill so there's no telling how many people we'll take. We simply look for the best voices that fit the group.
If I didn’t get in this time, can I try out again?
Of course! We hope you do. If you don't get in your first audition, take some time and practice and definitely come back for another try.
